In the Spotlight: Heritage & Press Highlights

At Athol Orchards, our mission has always been about more than just syrup, it’s about preserving a piece of American history. We are incredibly humbled to have our story shared by local and national storytellers who value heritage, hard work, and the simple beauty of the orchard.

The Pioneering Today Feature | Melissa K. Norris

"Heirloom Apple Varieties & Saving Them for Future Generations." It was a true highlight to be featured by Melissa K. Norris, a leading voice in the modern homesteading movement. Nikki joined Melissa to discuss the vital importance of preserving antique apple genetics and the art of traditional orchard management. This collaboration was a meeting of minds, focused on the shared goal of teaching families how to return to a self-sufficient, homegrown lifestyle. Listen to the Podcast Here

American Essence Magazine | 2021

"Back to the Roots" We were featured in the New York-based American Essence Magazine for a deep dive into the "Epoch" of our farm. This national feature followed Nikki’s journey of planting heirloom trees on our North Idaho homestead and the "soulful" revolution of returning to traditional food ways. It was a proud moment to see our antique apples celebrated on a national stage.

Coeur d'Alene Magazine | 2020

"Seasonal Feasts & Orchard Magic" Our local community has always been our heartbeat. Coeur d'Alene Magazine captured the essence of our long-table dinners and seasonal celebrations. From sun-ripened apples to the glow of the farm at twilight, this feature highlighted why we invite our community to "slow down" and enjoy the simple things once more.

The Farm Made Cookbook | 2021

"A Literary Debut for Apple Cider Caramel." We were thrilled to be included in the Farm Made Cookbook, a collection of traditional recipes from America's farmers. The book features Nikki’s personal recipe for New England Style Apple Dumplings, showcasing how our Apple Cider Caramel is used by artisan bakers to create professional-level flavor at home.

Made In The Northwest | 2018 & 2021

"The Grit Behind the Glaze." Our story was featured on the Made In The Northwest television segment, giving viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the literal blood, sweat, and tears that go into every bottle. From pressing the cider to the final hand-labeled jar, these spotlights show the authentic, small-batch process that defines Athol Orchards.

The North Idaho Farm-to-Table Series

"Long-Table Dinners & Heritage Education" Beyond the glossy pages of magazines, Athol Orchards has been a recurring spotlight for local culinary journalism. Our long-table orchard dinners and heirloom grafting workshops have been celebrated as a cornerstone of the North Idaho "Agri-Tourism" movement. These features highlighted our commitment to not just selling a product, but providing a place where the community can reconnect with the land, the history of the apple, and each other.
